Scammers posing as a well-known resin supplier have been sending emails advising companies that their (the suppliers) banking details have changed with instructions to pay invoices into what is ultimately the scammers account. Email hacking scams are common and difficult to identify. If invoices are attached, they can look genuine. Victims are unlikely to recover money lost.
ScamWatch, which is run by the ACCC recommends companies ‘contact the supplier directly using a second, reliable mode of communication such as a known phone number to verify any request to change bank details.’
