CST wins six Olympic medals

Australian carbon fibre composites featured in the rowing and sailing categories at the recent Olympics by winning seven medals. CST Composites, or ‘Composite Spars and Tubes’ as it was originally known, supplied over 80 carbon fibre filament wound mast tops to the women’s’ and men’s’ lasers across all nations.

Matt Wearn won gold in the men’s one person laser event. The 25 year old Australian sailor finished in second place in the medal race, scoring four points, which were enough for him to take the title.

The CST crew is looking forward to more medals in the 2024 Paris Olympics in which they appear to be the sole source of the radial mast base for the 49er and 49er FX high performance sailing class.
