Lavender supports green composites

21 January 2014

Lavender Composites has expanded its range of products with environmental credentials.

"It comes as no surprise that companies are seeing the benefits of the current trend to be more ‘aware’ of the products they use and the impact of using these products, which is why Lavender Composites has made a conscious decision to stock alternative products that display not only environmentally responsible characteristics, but retain or improve performance advantages as well," says Lavender Technical Sales Consultant, Simon Heading.

Lavender Composites currently stocks several products that fit this category including Sicomin GreenPoxy, a bio-based epoxy resin with up to 56% of ingredients derived from non petrochemical sourced material, and Amorim CoreCork, a core material that is harvested from living trees.

Most recently Lavender became the sole distributor of Bcomp flax fabrics. Woven from harvested flax fibres, the fabrics display exceptional strength/weight and vibration adsorption properties, says Heading.

"With this combination of materials, we can supply everything required to manufacture a truly unique, performance based laminate displaying comparative characteristics but with a substantially reduced environmental impact. Lavender Composites is working with several companies now exploring these options."
