Industry award for innovative composite flight simulator

13 May 2016

Congratulations to SynFlyt, the Australian company formed to develop, manufacture and commercialise an economical flight simulator for pilot training. The company has earned the Manufacturer’s Monthly 2016 Endeavour Award in the Outstanding Start-Up category.

The Synflyt story demonstrates Australia’s innovation capability, marrying technology with composites to develop an innovative high-tech simulator for pilot training schools, large and small.  The award citation notes the SynFlyt simulator incorporates several world firsts including the responsive motion technology to pilot control and that it is the first flight simulator that can be located outdoors. It is the aim of SynFlyt to have 3,000 motion flight simulators worldwide within seven years.

Synflyt engaged Sydney-based Ryman Composites to provide the composite design and manufacturing expertise for the flight simulator which takes full advantage of the many attributes of composite materials: the ability to form complex shapes, seamlessly joined and laminated for a smooth aesthetically appealing exterior and interior; light weight; reduced part count; plus durability to withstand the harsh outdoor elements.

The story was featured in the March issue of Composite Australia’s Connection magazine.
