Dr. Veit will present on high performance fibres, yarns and textile structures used for the production of advanced composites, covering the essentials concerning material characteristics plus the latest manufacturing and processing techniques. 

At the completion of the workshop, the participants will:

  • know the properties and fields of application of high performance fibre materials and the respective production processes,
  • know the properties and manufacturing processes of a wide range of textile structures for technical applications,
  • have a basic understanding of Cost-efficient fibre and textile solutions for lightweight composite components.

About the presenter

Dr Dieter Veit is Vice-Director of the Institut für Textiltechnik of RWTH Aachen University, Germany.

He has been working in textiles for more than 20 years beginning with his Dr.-Ing. degree at RWTH Aachen University, Germany, on the simulation of man-made fibre processing and including an internship with CSIRO in 1992. As a professional, he has worked in different areas of textile production including cotton spinning, weaving and man-made fibre. He is author and co-author of several books on a wide range of textile subjects. In 2001, Dieter returned to RWTH Aachen University where he now has the position of Director of the Institut für Textiltechnik.
