VISA requirements

All visitors to Australia must have a valid visa to travel to and enter Australia (other than New Zealand passport holders who will normally be granted a Special Category visa on arrival, provided they meet health and character requirements; and permanent residents of Norfolk Island who may be granted a Permanent Resident of Norfolk Island visa on arrival).

We recommend you read these background documents to assist your visa application

General information for Visa Applicants is in this Australian Government Fact Sheet – .PDF (43KB)

Visa options for conference speakers and delegates  – .PDF (69 KB)

To smooth the process for delegates and speakers, Composites Australia has registered the 2017 Advanced Composites Innovation Conference with the International Event Coordinator Network (IECN) of the Department of Immigration and Border Protection (DIBP).

Important things to note

To avoid disappointment, lodge your visa application at least four weeks prior to your departure.  Allow six weeks if paper-based application is required.

Ensure you attach a confirmation of your registration, or a letter of invitation, to attach to your visa application. Email the event organiser for a letter confirming your registration and / or participation as a presenter for the conference.  Send the email request …

There are several visa options available to people wishing to visit Australia. Several can be lodged online.  Visit this webpage to determine the most appropriate option: Visitor visa options …

Consider Australia’s health and character requirements, which you may  have to meet as part of the visa application process.

Participants required to lodge paper-based visa applications should do so at the Australian visa office nearest to your current country of residence.

  • The International Event Coordinator Network might not be able to help if participants do not lodge their visa applications within recommended timeframes.

How can the International Event Coordinator Network help with the visa application process?

The International Event Coordinator Network can provide the conference organiser with the following services as required:

  • updates on the progress of visa applications
  • confirmation of the lodgement of visa applications by event participants
  • liaison with Australian visa offices overseas to resolve issues arising in the visa application process.
