Composite Materials - Part A
A two part educational video set, each of 28 minutes duration, depicting composite materials, their physical properties and methods of fabrication.
Part A examines the physical properties of composites based on E glass, Aramid and carbon fibre reinforcements, and compares these with those achievable using traditional methods of construction. The program covers three methods of fabrication: hand lay up of a simple shape; resin/glass depositor gun used in the production of truck bonnets; and vacuum bagging of a competition catamaran hull and modern airliner rudder. Also shown is the use of resin impregnating machines in the making of a Huon class mine hunter.
Member Cost AUD: $100.00 (inc GST)  Non member cost AUD:$125.00

Composite Materials - Part B
A two part educational video set, each of 28 minutes duration, depicting composite materials, their physical properties and methods of fabrication.
Part B illustrates eight major fabrication processes: resin infusion, resin transfer moulding, compression moulding, pultrusion, filament winding, continuous profile production, bulk casting and centrifugal casting. The advantages, limitations and areas of application for each process are examined, together with typical properties of the materials used in each process.

Safety In Composites Manufacture
Composites manufacture contains a significantly above average content of hazards which can result in injury, death, fire, explosion, etc. If an injury or death results from a workplace accident, the employer is severely at risk if they cannot produce evidence that the individual involved was properly instructed in regard to the risks of their employment.
Composites Australia has just completed production of a Safety Induction Video titled "Safety in Composite Manufacture". Filmed in CIA member factories, this video provides a 25 minute comprehensive coverage of practically everything an employee needs to be taught in order to operate safely and effectively in Composites industry. Although targeted primarily at the induction of new employees, it should also be used for regular refresher training every six months or so for existing employees.
If you have this video in your possession and have records to demonstrate that your employees have attended an instructional screening, you should be protected from allegations that you have not provided adequate training in the OH & S area.
You should show this video to your employees, not just to cover your legal obligations, but to ensure that your workers are not killed or maimed through ignorance of the risks they are required to handle.
